Because of covid 19 the new lunch room requirements and changes from last year to this year are different.

By Daija Thomas

Some of the new changes and requirements that you have seen are the shield between the kids and the lunch ladies where you get you food at, and only three kids at a table but if your in high school and middle school you sit in the old gym and only one or two  people at a table, it quieter not being able to be able talk to your friend all together like the previous years. This year we can't have any cooked food for breakfast. It can only be package food because of covid 19, the less food than last year, but that's not their fault they have no control of that it was all up to  the school board.

One of the positive joys the lunch ladies appreciate is the students and meeting their needs. The goal is to make everyone as satisfied with their meal as possible.  What makes this task harder is the muffling of the masks and shield.  Alicia shares, “It’s harder to hear the kids because of the shield...so if you could speak a little louder it makes it easier for them to hear us.”  Thus making it easier for everyone to leave pleased.

Do you feel rushed when getting your food? Students probably don't notice it, but the lunch ladies do. “It's different not being able to talk to the kids and ask about if the food is good or if it's enough, how is the food, we cant talk to you guys because Mr. Kimmi wants us to get kids out of the line in a timely manner.”Alicia says. It’s not because he doesn’t  to the lunch ladies to talk to us, it’s so there’s not a clustered line of kids.

There were some good things that came out of this though. Alicia says, ”it’s nice that the little kids can’t touch the food or sneeze in it.” so no one’s snot or germs gets into the food.Would you want that in your food?

So please be patient and thankful their doing their best they can with what's going on. Thank them for being here and for providing us with food.
